In a remarkable upset, the Eagles, led by senior forward Jack Williams’ 21 points and 12 rebounds, defeated Loyola for the first time in Coach Todd Wolfson’s six-year tenure. The win puts Chaminade atop the Mission League and ranks us No. 21 in the nation.

While Loyola beat Chaminade 80-60 the first time the schools met Dec. 7, Coach Wolfson’s philosophy on defense seemed to neutralize the Cubs this time. A 27-point lead built up over three quarters showed how much we’ve improved in nine games since we last squared off against Loyola.

The relentless Eagles refused to take a foot off the gas pedal in the Jan. 10 win. Four players reached double figures and each player off the bench made a significant contribution on one end of the floor or the other. Chaminade carries an edgier hunger this year and voracious appetite for CIF and state championships.
